Lessons
Lessons are taught weekly and at the same time and day. Ad hoc lessons are not available.
Location, days and times of lessons
Lessons are taught in my music room on the first floor, facing the front of my home.
Lessons are taught Monday - Friday (afternoon and evening) and Saturday (morning and afternoon). Lessons continue as usual if your lesson falls on a bank holiday.
Most lessons are taught back-to-back. It is important you arrive at your scheduled lesson time so as not to interrupt other lessons.
Half term/Christmas/Easter/Summer
There are no lessons during half term, Christmas and Easter. Lessons are provided during the summer break (late July - end of August). You will receive an online form from which you can select the weeks and time slot you are available for lessons.
Child Protection (pupils under the age of 19)
Parents are encouraged to sit in the waiting area during lessons, which is located in my living room. If you (parent) would prefer to drop off and collect, this preference must be communicated to me beforehand.
Cancelling/missed/rescheduling lessons
Cancelled/missed lessons will not be rescheduled and are still paid for.
If you require to reschedule a lesson, for whatever reason, this must be requested with advance notice of at least 48 hours. I'll endeavour to provide an alternative day/time within the same half-term that suits my teaching schedule. The lesson is still paid for if you are unable to attend the provided day/time or if I'm unable to provide an alternative day/time.
If I must cancel a lesson, I will deduct the lesson fee via the upcoming half-term.
Behaviour, conduct, professionalism and safeguarding
I am fully DBS-checked. Excellent behaviour and conduct of pupils are expected at all times when attending lessons. If there are any behavioural concerns, I will raise these with the pupil/parent immediately. I reserve the right to cease a lesson if behaviour issues impact learning and progress. Pupils/parents are expected to respect my home, belongings and music room. Eating and drinking are strictly prohibited in the waiting area.
There will be times during lessons when physical contact is required to help progress and develop skills or confidence i.e. touching/moving fingers and hands to the correct position on the piano or developing correct hand posture. You should inform me immediately if you/your child feel uncomfortable with physical contact during lessons so alternative methods can be applied.
Communication
Communication between myself and pupils/parents is via WhatsApp. Messages must be appropriate and well-mannered.
CCTV/Safety
CCTV has been installed at my home to provide safety of my home/property.
Cameras have been installed in the following places:
-
Foyer
-
Waiting room (living room)
-
Landing (outside the Music room)
